FGCU Florida Small Business Development Center Announces Regional Award Winners

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) announces its annual 2015 Regional Award Winners.  Award recipients include Dan Telep Jr., Regional Consultant of the Year; Julio Estremera, Regional Employee of the Year; and Jadira Hoptry, of Fifth Third Bank, Regional Outstanding Resource Partner of the Year.

The Regional Consultant of the Year Award recognizes a consultant for their outstanding performance, significant contributions, and a strong commitment to their consulting services in the region. Dan Telep Jr. was selected for his dedication to his client’s success.  He continuously works to help clients find and secure government contracts, and in 2015, provided over 1,600 hours of consulting hours.  Additionally, he successfully helped clients obtain over $800,000 in government contracts.  Telep’s previous experience as a government procurement officer brings him hands on insight on the workings of the contracting processes.  He has worked for the FSBDC for 13 years, and helps his fellow colleagues by providing them with useful government procurement information to share with their clients.

The Regional Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee from each region for their outstanding performance, significant contributions, and a strong commitment to operations, effectiveness, and service excellence in the region. Julio Estremera was selected based on his dedication and contributions. He has been a certified business consultant with the FSBDC for over 16 years.  In addition to being a key employee in overall leadership, he exceeded his consulting metrics by 111%.  Estremera is highly regarded by staff and other consultants for the pride he takes in his work.

The Regional Outstanding Resource Partner of the Year Award recognizes the resource partner from each region that provided the greatest direct contribution to the regional FSBDC. Jadira Hoptry, vice president of Community and Economic Development at Fifth Third Bank has for the past three years supported the FSBDC at FGCU programs.  Key contributions include financial support, sponsorship of educational seminars and workshops including signature events, Distinguished Entrepreneur of Southwest Florida, and Access to Capital. David Call, regional president, Fifth Third Bank (South Florida) said, “Congratulations to Jadira for receiving the 2016 Outstanding Resource Partner of the Year Award.  I have a great admiration for her strong commitment and enthusiasm to help individuals become self-sufficient and financially stable. It’s an honor to have her on our Senior Leadership Team.”
