The Florida SBDC extends it’s thanks and gratitude to our judges for their expertise and time to select the next Distinguished Entrepreneur of SW Florida. Judges include:
Phil Borchmann, Editor of Gulfshore Business Magazine. For nearly 12 years, Borchmann has served as the editor of award-winning Gulfshore Business, a business-to-business publication covering Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. He also edits Naples REALTOR—the official magazine of the Naples Area Board of Realtors—that is published by Gulfshore Life magazine. Before his arrival in Southwest Florida, Borchmann spent about 15 years working as a reporter at newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune and the Rockford Register Star in Rockford, Illinois, his hometown. Borchmann is a graduate of Illinois State University.
Timothy J. Cartwright, Managing Director of Compass Advisory Group, a firm he founded in 2003, and a Partner at Fifth Avenue Advisors (“FAA”). Compass Advisory Group, part of the FAA family of companies, is an Merger & Acquisition Consultancy (M&A) that completes business transactions and corporate restructurings for middle market companies. Prior, he co-founded By-Products Interactive, an electronic trading, market research and publishing company; and founded Benchmark Solutions, a supply chain consulting company. He started his career with Arthur Andersen in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Cartwright resides in Naples with his wife and three children. He is a softball coach, a soccer coach, and an active member of First Baptist Church of Naples.
Tiffany Esposito, Tiffany Esposito is the President and CEO of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and also serves as the Executive Director of the Bonita Springs Estero Economic Development Council. She began her role in June 2016 and previously worked as the Chief of Staff at the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that she was the Vice President, Director of Operations and Marketing and Communications Manager for the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce over a period of nearly 6 years. Tiffany is a Lee County native and a proud graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, where she received an undergraduate degree in Communications, and a Master of Business Administration. In 2013, she graduated from the United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management, IOM and in 2014 she earned the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation.
Karen Ramos, Business Specialist with the City of Cape Coral Economic Development Office. Ramos is a graduate of Hodges University in Interdisciplinary Studies, Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and obtained the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation. Karen is also a member of the Allocations Team and Campaign Coordinator for United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties, representative of the City of Cape Coral’s Wellness Committee and Employee Association, member of the Cape Coral of Commerce, and an American Lung Association neighborhood volunteer. She donates numerous volunteer hours to the many events held in the surrounding area. Karen is married with two sons, originally from Connecticut and relocated to Cape Coral in 1998.
Christopher T. Spiro, 2016 Distinguished Entrepreneur of SWFL recipient and CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Spiro & Associates, one of Southwest Florida’s leading providers of marketing, advertising, public relations and brand architecture expertise. He grew up in Cape Coral, attended the University of Florida, and launched his advertising agency and design service nearly 30 years ago. Chris’s account experience includes work for a vast array of clients for which the creative work accomplished by the Agency garnered hundreds of honors, awards and accolades locally, nationally and internationally. Chris is active throughout the Southwest Florida community giving time, talent and treasure wherever possible. He is also known throughout the area for his passion for all things related to the “Gator Nation.”
