The Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) awarded Dr. Lindsay Pursglove of Swimtastic Swim Schools of SW Florida as the recipient of the 2019 William O. Webb Award.
Swimtastic helps any age, level, or ability learn-to-swim. Their goals is to get all swimmers loving the water, swimming, and achieving water safety in and around the water. The William O. Webb Awards granted Dr. Pursglove with $1,000, presented by Suzanne Specht, FSBDC assistant director.
Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for an individual during their lifetime. The best way to minimize the risk around the water is by learning how to swim. Swimtastic will be using the award funds to provide scholarships for their learn-to-swim water safety efforts in Lee and Collier County.
Trish Leonard, a family friend of Mr. Webb said, “He demonstrated that you can make dreams really come true. He was humble, kind and well rounded.” Each year, proceeds from the funds are used to provide support to a small-business owner in Southwest Florida who is working with the FSBDC.
