For I Want That Yummy bakery, which established itself in 2019, the future – along with owner Dre White’s enthusiasm – was bright.

Halfway through the first year of launch, I Want That Yummy began collaborating with the SBDC. Consultations with the representatives at the SBDC allowed White to prioritize the most important tasks for the business, as well as place focus on the items that mattered most to the future of I Want That Yummy.

“The SBDC’s efforts were a big part of why we were able to net a tiny profit in our first year of business,” White shares.

Then the pandemic hit, and 2020 was looking to be a more difficult year than the one before for I Want That Yummy.

With guidance from the SBDC, White was able to change direction for the bakery and focus on making business clients their main source of income.

The SBDC offered strategies and industry-focused information so that White could make the best decisions for I Want That Yummy. By the end of the year, the bakery had doubled its sales.

“As we look to continue our growth in 2021, the SBDC has put several options on our table which would otherwise be unknown to me,” White shares.

White adds, “We can now say we are a firmly established enterprise and the SBDC is a big reason why.”

Consultations with the SBDC include feedback, brainstorming, and planning for upcoming events, but also includes unique insight and celebrations for the bakery’s success.
