Melanie Griffin, Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Confirmed as G.L.O.W. Keynote Speaker

Fort Myers, FL, November 22, 2022 – The Florida SBDC at FGCU is excited to announce Melanie Griffin, Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as the Keynote Speaker of the 2023 G.L.O.W. an entrepreneurial women’s gathering.

Melanie S. Griffin, Esq. serves as the Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to head the agency beginning January 1, 2022, Secretary Griffin leads Florida’s regulation of more than 1.6 million licensees across more than 30 fields of industry.

A proud native Floridian, Secretary Griffin is a triple-graduate of Florida State University (business finance, 2003; M.B.A., 2006; J.D., 2006).

Melanie is an Attorney with Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick and Senior Advisor for Business-to-Business Relationships for Shumaker Advisors Florida.

Beyond her business and legal career, Secretary Griffin has been a small business owner, creating Spread Your Sunshine in 2017. Committed to empowering others, Secretary Griffin has designed and sold inspirational products and gifts, provided professional training services, and served as a sought-after keynote speaker, including to multiple national and international audiences.

The Florida SBDC at Florida Gulf Coast University is hosting its fourth annual women’s entrepreneurial event, G.L.O.W. which stands for growth. leadership. ownership. well-being & wealth on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Florida Gulf Coast University in the Cohen Center Ballroom.

G.L.O.W. examines a variety of entrepreneurial topics, especially as related to women and those who support them. All who seek a better understanding of the entrepreneurship issues women face are encouraged to attend.
